Dr. Nicole Klughers is the founder of Vis Wellness Center in Rocky Hill, CT. "Vis" is Latin and represents "the healing power," as a core focus of naturopathic medicine is to encourage the body's natural ability to heal itself. Vis Wellness Center focuses on disease prevention, individualized care and restoration of optimal health by encouraging the inherent self-healing processes that exist within us all. Dr. Nicole promotes wellness through lifestyle modifications, personalized nutrition, natural therapies and functional testing.

Nicole Klughers, ND, PharmD, MSAc is a licensed naturopathic physician, acupuncture specialist, community health educator, and former pharmacist. Passionate about healthcare from an early age and inspired by working as a pharmacy assistant from the age of 14, Dr. Nicole began her journey into medicine by earning a Doctorate in Pharmacy at St. John's University College of Pharmacy, in Queens, NY and Rome, Italy.

"Working as a pharmacist in the conventional medical model allowed me to fully recognize that drugs were not the way I wanted to help people."

Questioning the limitations of conventional medicine, Dr. Nicole was drawn to naturopathic medicine as she recognized this as a way to provide integrative, sustainable and holistic healthcare. Eager to help others get to the root-cause of their health concerns, Dr. Nicole enrolled at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine, and earned a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine while concurrently completing a Master of Science in Acupuncture. Dr. Nicole graduated summa cum laude (with highest honors) in both disciplines.

Enthusiastic about naturopathic philosophy, Dr. Nicole took the lead in coordinating The 11th Annual Naturopathic Gathering in Bridgeport; an inspirational and educational conference attended by naturopathic elders, doctors, educators, and students from across North America. Dr. Klughers was recognized for her professionalism and commitment to patient-care as the recipient of the Clinical Excellence award as well the All-Around Excellence award from the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine.

In efforts to create a healthier, sustainable, more aware and joyful world, Dr. Nicole established Vis Wellness Center in Rocky Hill, CT. She practices there, providing thorough naturopathic care and in addition hosts holistic events. Fully embracing her role of “Doctor as Teacher,” Dr. Nicole regularly offers wellness programs, health fairs, and nutritious cooking workshops to provide the community with education and tools for healthy living.

Dr. Nicole visits Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. each year to participate in naturopathic legislative initiatives and is eager to continue the advancement of the naturopathic profession while increasing naturopathic healthcare accessibility for the public. On a state level, Dr. Klughers serves as the Vice President on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Naturopathic Physician Association. She is also an active member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians, American Apitherapy Society, and the Connecticut Holistic Chamber of Commerce and the Holistic Community Professional organization.

Dr. Nicole has been repeatedly been awarded as one of Connecticut's top 10 Naturopathic Physicians and best Holistic Weight Loss Centers by Natural Nutmeg's 10BEST Readers Choice Awards.

Dr. Nicole's clinical training consists of a wide range of care settings throughout the U.S. including: private practice, inpatient hospital, outpatient hospital, community clinic, inpatient psychiatric institution, and substance abuse treatment facility. She has trained under esteemed leaders of both the naturopathic and pharmacy professions with focus on Endocrinology, Geriatrics, Addiction Medicine, Mental Health, Gynecology, Integrative Oncology, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pediatrics.

Outside of America, Dr. Nicole has served in disadvantaged and rural areas, where individuals' rights to healthcare are underutilized or not recognized. She believes naturopathic medicine can provide a sustainable means of healthcare in developing countries and often looks for opportunities to offer naturopathic care to those in need, regardless of how far from her home. Dr. Nicole has served on medical missions abroad in Italy, Jamaica, Guatemala and Ecuador.

Dr. Nicole has an enthusiastic, optimistic and inventive attitude. She feels it necessary to constantly keep an open mind and stay receptive to unconventional possibilities that often provide overlooked solutions to recurring issues. She lives in Connecticut and regularly travels to experience various world cultures and learn about traditional ways of healing.

Passionate and knowledgeable about health, healing, happiness, and natural living, Dr. Nicole is “truly honored to do this work.” She enjoys practicing yoga and mindfulness, preparing wholesome meals with family and friends, hiking, biking and camping, learning more about beekeeping and apitherapy, and attending a variety of musical performances.
